Responding to a fan not running
1. CheckthattheShelfManagercancommunicatewiththefanandthatitisintheactive
state.UsetheCLIcommandshowchassisstatus.
2. Ifthefanisnotintheactivestate,checkthatthehotswapswitchisclosed.
a. OntheATCA6000shelf,thefanshouldhaveitshotswapswitchintheleftmost
position.
b. OntheATCA6006shelf,thehotswaplatchthumbscrewmustbesecured.
c. O ntheATCA6014andATCA6016shelves,theH/Sbuttonmustbetoggledtothe“on
state.
3. Ifthefanisstillinactive,followtheinstructionsgiveninRespondingtoaFRUnotpowered
properlyonpage 119.
Responding to fan speeds higher than normal
1. Checkthatnotemperaturealarmsarecurrentlypresent.SeeRespondingtoalarmson
page 100.
2. Iftemperaturealarmsarepresent,checktheactualvalueofthesensorthatisinalarm.
SeeInvestigatingsensorvaluesonpage 102.
3. CheckthattheShelfManagercancommunicatewiththefanandthatitisintheactive
state.UsetheCLItoaccessthefanslotandrunthecommandshowwiththedetailsoption.
IftheShelfManageriscommunicatingwiththefans,itshouldreducethefanspeedwhen
temperaturesreturntonormal.
4. Checktheairtemperaturesintheshelf.
5. Verifythattheairfiltershavebeencleanedaccordingtothemaintenanceschedule.
IfaFRUisgeneratingatemperaturealarm
thatdoesn’tclearitselfovertime,thismay
indicateahardwareproblem.
